Environmental Testing
Environmental stresses – extreme heat, extreme cold, moisture or other variables – can contribute to device failure in a myriad of ways. Today’s consumers and businesses expect fault-free operation and uninterrupted service, environmental simulation tests are necessary to guarantee performance. Environmental testing is conducted to determine a component’s ability to perform during or after exposure to a specific environment.
Endurance testing for commercial, military and aerospace electronic components and systems assesses the basic design of the device as well as the fabrication methods and materials used. Passing these tests is an indicator that the device will indeed be robust enough to provide long-term reliability. In addition, environmental tests assist in determining a device’s safe and proper operation and its operational limits.
Our environmental testing capabilities are designed to assist in evaluating how your advanced components will perform even in extreme environments. IC environmental testing consists of endurance tests that subject products to extreme temperatures and temperature variations, and moisture-condensed or saturated environments. Temperature Cycling is environmental/mechanical testing that can fatigue joints of different materials causing them to fail. Other endurance tests such as Heat Accelerated Stress Tests (HAST) and Bias Aging are useful in accelerating existing failure mechanisms thereby simulating long-term, real-life operations in a span of hours or days.
Our new thermal shock bath machine tests components in liquids ranging from -65°C to 150°C (-85°F to 302°F). Ideal for aerospace and military parts that face the most extreme conditions, the system meets MIL-STD 883 method 1011, MIL-STD 202 method 107, MIL-STD 750 method 1056 and JEDEC standard JESD22 – A106. Have a custom requirement? We can do that too!
