Hermetic Seal Testing

Hermeticity testing is a crucial requirement for medical, defense, aerospace and commercial hermetically-sealed devices. A lack of a hermetic seal is a reliability concern and may allow moisture and contaminants to enter an internal cavity, which could lead to premature failure.

High Sensitivity Helium Leak Detection (HSHLD®) was developed by ORS to simultaneously measure Helium and Oxygen to determine Fine and Gross leaks in one simplified test. The HSHLD® method is a dry method that is sensitive to 10-12 atm cc/sec with cycle times less than 2 minutes and can measure devices with internal free volumes as small as 0.005cc.

The Krypton-85 Leak Testing method employed by Oneida is a highly accurate technique used to measure fine and gross leak rates in high-reliability devices. It is the preferred method for large volumes of parts to characterize small leak rates in critical military components.

ORS performs seal testing per Mil-Std 883, method 1014, Mil-Std 750, method 1071, and Mil-Std 202 Method 112, as well as for custom, client-specific requirements. Testing is also performed per Telcordia GR1221-CORE and GR-468-CORE for passive and active devices.

Oneida Research Services provides CEN Standard EN 13185 and CEN Standard EN 1593 as part of our non-destructive, leak testing services.
